Pennex

The Pennex casting division is an ISO 9001:2015 certified, state-of-the-art facility that uses common alloy type material to produce 7”, 8”, 9”, 10″, 12″, and 14” diameter billet in 1xxx, 2xxx, and 6xxx series aluminum alloys. Pennex believes in continuous improvement and as a result boasts a robust quality system. The current annual capacity is 200 million pounds with room for growth.

Casting Equipment

Wellsville Facility

  • 130,000 lbs regenerative melt furnace with a Wagstaff Casting Complete and complete PLC controls
  • Charging machine designed by Glama, Pennex was the first North American company to invest in this machine
  • Electromagnetic pump to circulate molten aluminum allowing for high recoveries and homogenous chemistry
  • Dedicated 8″ gas supply for unlimited energy demands

Greenville Facility

  • Two melt furnaces with one holding furnace
  • Wagstaff casting system with Numax molds
  • Two Seco Warwick 130,000-pound homogenizing furnaces with a rapid cooling chamber
  • B&O billet saw that can cut two logs/billet at the same time
  • Ultrasonic capability
  • Incoming scrap accepted up to 15-foot lengths, other packages accepted:  loose, baled, and boxed
