Last fall, Ilsco and Pennex joined forces to donate metal to the George Junior Republic’s “Pointing The Way” project. This non-profit organization combines donations with the after school labor of at-risk-youth. Through the program the students create decorative and functional public sculptures that point drivers to nearby parking, attractions, shopping, restaurants etc. The goal is to instill a sense of community pride in the students, while teaching them valuable career-building skill sets. So far, so good… This is the progress made on the current project, which is made from Ilsco’s donated extrusions and Pennex’s sheet/plate scrap metal donated from the yard in Greenville. The project still needs final painting.
